you know it's going to be a bad day when...

Tuesday morning Zach woke up complaining that his stomach hurt. He is not the complaining type, so if he says something hurts I know he is telling the truth. I told him that we would relax a little to see if it went away before deciding to go to school or not. After a half hour he said he felt better, and wanted to go to school. I got him dressed and we got in the car to go, but as I was pulling out of the driveway I looked in the rearview mirror at him and he just looked miserable. I decided to pull back in and keep him home. We came back inside and I told him to lay down, while I went to go take a shower. After I was done getting ready he told me he was hungry, and was acting like normal Zach. I decided to run an errand to pick up birthday presents for the party the kids are going to this weekend. We get to Target and I stop for some Starbucks since that was going to be my breakfast (I know, very well balanced). He said he was hungry again and asked for some banana bread. I got him some and we proceeded through the store. We walked around taking our time looking at different things. He picked out some fruit snacks and pretzels for his lunches, and we went back to the baby aisle to get Brienna some socks. He asked if he could look at some toys and we walked through deciding what to get Gabriella and Emily (the twins that are having the birthday party). Just then he screamed out "Mommy" and as I turned around he puked all over the floor. I was looking around to see if I had something to catch it with, and he puked again. At this point he is completely freaked out and crying which sent Brienna into a fit. I just looked around and said (out loud), "I don't know what to do?" I couldn't leave the puke in the middle of the aisle, but I wanted to get him to the bathroom to clean up and calm down. Thankfully a nice lady offered to go get someone. The guy came with that disgusting saw dust stuff that I am sure most people remember from grade school. He told me it was okay for me to leave and he would clean up. I felt AWFUL for having someone else clean up my child's mess, but he could tell the kids were a bit frazzled as was I. I immediately paid for the items I had, took Zach to the bathroom to clean up, and got loaded in the truck armed with an extra plastic bag just in case. The whole way home I kept thinking not the frickin' stomach flu again, and God forbid what will happen if it goes through the whole house. Not this week!!!!

Thankfully that was the only puking incident all day. I think it was a combination of the horrible weekend he had with his dad, and the severe lack of sleep that he had as well. Obviously his stomach was upset, and I think the milk and banana bread is what did him in. He did pass out on the couch watching cartoons later that day so I know he was still not feeling well. Zach is definitely not the type of kid that falls asleep on the couch.

That afternoon I had a couple more errands to run after Gary got home, and I stocked up on some Emetrol which is a anti-nausea medicine. If I was to get this awful bug, I wanted to be prepared because there is no way this week I was going to have time to be laid up in bed.

He was completely back to normal by Wednesday, and I am glad for that!!
